A Parent’s Guide to Picture Day

Your Best Picture Day

School photos make beautiful mementos and cherished memories. For some, the process of picture day can be hectic. It doesn’t have to be. Here are some tips to make your picture day the best one ever.

Choosing What to Wear

Plan a few days in advance so you won’t be caught off guard the morning of picture day. Avoid graphic tees, large logos and busy patterns. You want the focus to be on your child’s beautiful smile, not their clothes.

Collaborate with your child. If they are comfortable about what they are wearing they will be more relaxed in front of the camera.

Don’t Over Accessorize

Simple jewelry can flatter but don’t let it become the focus of the photo. If you choose to use makeup make it simple and natural. A light matte makeup can help reduce shine. Most importantly let their natural beauty come through!

Hair Style

Keep it natural. You want your child to look like themselves. Make sure to put a little extra effort into their hair the morning of picture day. Pack a brush or comb that day just in case they need a touch up before their photo.

Practice That Smile!

It’s the one thing we all want to see! Help them practice. Teach them a natural smile showing your child’s true self. Don’t teach them to say “cheese”. This is unnatural and unflattering. Afterall, where do you think the term “cheesy smile” comes from?
